Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton dismissed speculation Sunday over former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s potential run for the White House. Speaking on Meet the Press, the former secretary of state said she’s confident she will secure the Democratic nomination, which means Bloomberg’s potential bid as an independent candidate is unnecessary. “He’s a good friend of mine,” Clinton said. “The way I read what he said is if I didn’t get the nomination, he might consider it. Well, I’m going to relieve him of that and get the nomination so he doesn’t have to.” The New York Times reported on Saturday that Bloomberg is considering a presidential run and asked his team to draw up a plan of what a bid as an independent candidate might look like.
