Though she wasn’t well-known outside Los Angeles, driven Hollywood PR woman Ronni Chasen was a star within the film industry, and hundreds of notable names gathered Sunday night to pay tribute to her, after she was murdered Tuesday. “Ronni took great pains to stay in the shadows while pushing her clients into the light,” said one attendee, Oscar-winning producer Lili Fini Zanuck (Driving Miss Daisy), adding that Chasen would be “shocked” at the overwhelming turnout. Chasen’s murder is still unsolved, with no apparent motives or suspects. She was shot while driving home from a screening of Burlesque, where she was talking up the chances of its soundtrack nabbing an Oscar nomination.
