Hook-Ups, Porn Habits, and Lesbian Fantasies: Iraqis’ Sexy Whispers

      Shhhhh

In the midst of conflict, some Iraqis are just looking for a good old fashioned hook-up.

Iraqis are still trying to get laid—no matter how many U.S. bombs are now falling.

The predominant Western impression of Iraq these days may be of a horror show, with ISIS rolling through Kurdish territory and members of the Yazidi religious sect isolated and starving on a mountaintop.

But even as tension have risen in Iraq, its citizens—well, some of them—are occupied with more, um, base concerns. But mere hours after President Obama authorized the first F-18 fighter jets to drop 500-pound bombs in the northern city of Erbil, information from users of the reveals that some have nothing but sex on the brain. Users of the secret-sharing app Whisper in Iraq are digging porn, crushing on blonde girls, and sighing about just how bored they are.

How do we know these Whispers are from Iraq? Well, we don’t for sure. Geo-location services of this sort do not have absolutely foolproof accuracy. But according to Slade Sohmer, the head of the application’s news service, Whisper used “multiple back-end tools” to “double and triple check the whereabouts and credibility of each user.”

“It’s a combination of opt-in geo-location by which Whisper may ascertain a user’s whereabouts down to the mile, the in-app messaging service and other back-end verification tools that allow administrators to determine credibility,” Sohmer told The Daily Beast.

A user in Erbil—the city that ISIS is threatening, and that President Obama has pledged to preserve—had love, not war, on the brain:

Another user in Erbil expressed boredom:

One user, located in Baghdad, expressed interest in a one-night stand:

      Another’s revealing fantasy:

This person just looking for a companion:

      One user discussed particular turn-ons:

Another wished to act upon homosexual feelings:

Some were more overt about their sexual desires:

      This one loves blondes:

      Another has a porn schedule:

Some are excited to be in loving relationships:

But another user was afraid to break up:

Keeping it real about necessary “me time” as a parent:

And loving being on the Internet:

More of these stories can be seen on Whisper.

It is unclear how long the recently launched U.S. campaign will last. But a second round of airstrikes was just announced by the Pentagon. The Defense Department, however, offered no information on which Iraqis might be looking for a little companionship. For that, you need Whisper.
