Horror Tiger Attack Sparks Panic at Zoo

A man who entered a tiger enclosure in Yorkshire was badly mauled.

A tiger, one of 15 rescued lions and tigers from the former Lujan Zoo in Argentina, is released by international animal welfare organization Four Paws upon its arrival at the Lionsrock Big Cat Sanctuary in Bethlehem, Free State province, South Africa, August 20, 2026. The transfer, part of one of the world's largest captive big cat relocation operations, will provide the animals with permanent homes after years in captivity following the zoo's closure over animal welfare concerns. A reportedly “agitated” man climbed into the tiger enclosure at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Yorkshire, England on Saturday afternoon, where he was swiftly attacked by one of the resident tigers. The man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital. He has not yet been publicly identified, and authorities said they were working to notify his family first. Witnesses to the attack said they saw the man climb into the enclosure before being grabbed. Videos of the horrific incident were circulating online Saturday evening, with South Yorkshire Police urging the public not to seek out the footage. “Following the incident, Yorkshire Wildlife Park was evacuated and officers remained on scene carrying out enquiries,” they said. “We are aware of videos circulating online and we would encourage people not to share this distressing footage.” In the footage, a tiger can be seen biting a man in a black hoodie on the back of the neck and the man then appears to point to the animal while pushing it away with his legs. “The tiger remained in the enclosure following the incident and there is no wider risk to the public,” police said. The wildlife park remains closed on Sunday.
