Details have emerged about the horrors at the Nice, France, hospital where many of the children injured in Thursday’s terror attack are being treated. At least 10 children and teenagers are believed to be among the 84 people killed in the truck rampage, which injured more than 200 with a reported 25 on life support. “The worst thing was the sheer number of children coming in, the nature of their injuries—serious head trauma and broken limbs—and the emotion felt by the children and their families,” said Frederic Sola, a Lenval children’s hospital surgeon. The hospital was also relying heavily on its psychological support unit—both for parents of the deceased and victims as well as siblings of those who witnessed their brothers and sisters suffering. The hospital admitted 30 children immediately following the rampage, two of which died overnight. The youngest was just a few months old, and “several” are still in intensive care.
