Waco, Texas police are investigating Monday’s shooting death of a 77-year-old as a possible mercy killing. The victim was under hospice care and may have been killed by a family member who “put her out of her misery” after “seeing her in so much pain and suffering,” said Waco Police spokesman Steve Anderson. Although police are referring to the victim as a woman, there are conflicting reports about the gender. The names of the suspected shooter and victim haven’t been released.
