On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to approve President Obama’s plan to combat ISIS by training and providing equipment for moderate Syrians. By a vote of 273 to 156, the House moved Obama’s strategy against ISIS a step closer to implementation. A notable 40 percent of Democrats opposed the plan, with Republicans providing needed support. Many politicians are dubious about the plan, particularly Obama’s vow not to put U.S. soldiers on the ground. Military officials have expressed doubts about this approach. On Tuesday, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey specifically said U.S. troops may be needed. The Senate is expected to approve the bill on Thursday. If it does so, the U.S. will begin its third major military involvement in Iraq in the last 25 years.
