House Dems Vote Against Tax Deal

There’s a knot in the president’s tax cut deal. Despite pleading from the White House, House Democrats angry about Obama's plan to extend all of the Bush tax cuts refused to let the proposal come up for a vote. "This message today is very simple: That in the form that it was negotiated, it is not acceptable," said Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD). In a heated two-hour session Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden told House Democrats that the deal would unravel if they insisted on making changes. The House's protest vote comes a day after some Senate Democrats signaled they would hold their noses and vote for the deal to stick with the president.
