According to a report in The Washington Post, White House officials and a number of Republican lawmakers said Tuesday tthey were getting close to a deal with the House Freedom Caucus on a health-care bill. Reps. Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, and Raúl R. Labrador, leaders of the Freedom Caucus, have signaled, White House officials say, that they were ready to support a new plan after the last bill failed to reach the House for a vote. Meadows said he would not weigh in publicly until a Wednesday night meeting occurs with other members of the House. The agreement of the revised bill, the Post reports, would allow states to opt out of some insurance regulations in the Affordable Care Act.
