The House of Representatives is going ahead with plans to vote on the debt-reduction compromise on Monday, after leaders said they would move first on the revised legislation. The Rules Committee met in the afternoon to determine the points of debate. The House then began debate just before 3 p.m. If the bill clears the House sometime on Monday, the Senate will be able to vote on it late Monday or Tuesday.
