The House of Representatives will vote next week on legislation barring those on the no-fly lists from purchasing guns, Speaker Paul Ryan announced Thursday. The move comes a week after Democrats tried to force Ryan’s hand by staging a 26-hour sit-in on the House floor over his refusal to put gun-control legislation up for a vote. Democrats, however, have signaled they would resume their sit-in if the House does not consider their exact bill—as opposed to a watered-down version that has the National Rifle Assocation’s stamp of approval. The House returns from a holiday recess on Tuesday.
