Howard Schultz Will Release Tax Returns
Should the former Starbucks CEO launch an independent 2020 campaign.

Howard Schultz will release his tax returns should he mount an independent run for the presidency, an adviser to him told The Daily Beast. The former Starbucks CEO has been openly flirting with launching a centrist bid in the coming months as he begins touring the country to sell his book. And in doing so, he has leaned heavily on his rags-to-riches business success; both as a biographical touchstone for a possible candidacy and a source of funds for a campaign. If Schultz ends up pulling the trigger—and a final answer will come in the coming months—voters will get a detailed look at how much Schultz gave to charity, what tax rate he paid, and what his total income is, among other matters. Bill Burton, an adviser to Schultz, said that unlike Donald Trump, Schultz would release his tax returns, though Burton declined to reveal how many years of tax returns Schultz would release.
