In another life, Prince Harry probably would have been a builder.
That was the conclusion to be drawn today as Prince Harry’s mission to informalize the monarchy took another giant leap forward when the bearded royal helped with some construction, laying paving stones in a derelict Manchester Street which is being refurbished to provide homes for ex-military personnel.
Were it not for his personalized hard hat, bearded Harry, who was wearing a shabby hoodie, looked indistinguishable from any other construction worker.
He seemed very much at home laying down the pavers, tapping them into place with professional pride.
He and his brother William were also roped into a recreation of Matthew McConaughey’s chest-beating hum from the Wolf of Wall Street.
William then painted a wall (rather poorly, his brother later opined) but it was Harry who stole the show.
Resident John Wilkinson, 58, told the BBC, "They were gentlemen. They were flirting with Margaret more than anyone else. She was well chuffed with Harry. I think she is going to leave me."
