The latest installment of The Hunger Games was a bull’s eye for the weekend box office, opening up its run with $123 million in ticket sales. This makes it the year’s biggest U.S. opening. The third installment, starring Jennifer Lawrence, took in an additional $152 million abroad. However, the strong numbers are less than the $158.1 million the series’ previous film brought in last year, and the $152.5 million the first installment took home on opening weekend in 2012. Disney’s Big Hero 6 came in second with $20.1 million, and Interstellar was third with $15.1 million.
