Jon Huntsman wants voters to trust him. In a speech Thursday, Huntsman will deliver his “closing arguments” for voters in a speech that will criticize his Republican opponents as well as President Obama. According to excerpts released prior to the speech, Huntsman will charge Romney with “say[ing] anything to earn the voters’ trust,” and that Gingrich is a “product of that same Washington who participated in the excesses of our broken and polarized political system.” The criticism is part of an “evolving dynamic” of second-tier Republican candidates looking to step out from the pack. But the Republican hopeful must have his eye on the final contest: Huntsman will criticize Obama for failing to act on the mandate to reestablish trust in Washington.
