Hurricane Lee has now strengthened into this season’s first Category 5 storm—with “dangerous winds” of up to 160 miles per hour, the National Hurricane Center said late Thursday night around 11 p.m. Lee is churning in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and is currently forecast to continue moving north of the Caribbean without making landfall—though meteorologists are watching the storm closely in case it changes course.
Hurricane #Lee has explosively intensified into a Category 5 storm and is expected to peak as a monster 180 mph Cat 5.
