Hurricane Patricia, one of the biggest storms to ever make landfall, weakened to a Category 1 storm overnight after moving inland over southwestern Mexico. No deaths or major damage have been reported, but the National Hurricane Center warns that Patricia is still expected to become a tropic storm later today, which could bring heavy rains and possibly flash floods and mudslides. At its peak, Patricia measured top wind speeds at 200 mph, close to the theoretical limit of a hurricane’s power, and weighed in at a whopping 8.3 on the 8.0 Dvorak storm intensity scale.
