Who knew a bunch of dinosaurs could beat Spider-Man? Ice Age: Continental Drift won the weekend box office this weekend, with a $46 million opening. The animated children’s film knocked The Amazing Spider-Man out of the top slot, with the franchise reboot made $35 million in its second weekend—still impressive, but less than expected. Ted came in third place with $22.1 million and Pixar’s Brave brought in $10.6 million and Magic Mike rounded out the top five with $9 million. But this week’s numbers are small potatoes compared with next weekend, when The Dark Knight Rises hits multiplexes across the country.
