A woman seeking asylum alleges in court documents that Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers asked her “Why did you come from your country?” and “Don’t you know that we hate you people?” Gladys Monroy-Guerra de Tesucum said agents made these remarks after she and her children escaped her abusive cousin in Guatemala. “We don’t want you in our country,” one of the ICE officers told her, she said. The mother said she appeared in court while being detained and when she returned, her kids were gone. The court documents were filed as part of an ongoing lawsuit against the Trump administration for separating families. Another woman, Nery Flores-Oliva, said agents told her they were taking her 6-year-old son for a shower, and he never returned. Angelica Rebeca Gonzalez-Garcia said officers told her they would never see her daughter again. “I felt like collapsing and dying. I cannot express the pain and fear I felt at that point,” she said.
