The Idaho fish and game commissioner has resigned from his state role after photos emerged of him posing for photos with a “family of baboons” he shot and killed during a hunting trip to Africa. Blake Fischer and his wife, Beth, posed with numerous animals they killed on a recent trip to Namibia. It was his wife’s first trip to Africa and he wanted her to “get a feel” of the continent, he said, “So I shot a whole family of baboons.” The outgoing official went on in a leaked email: “After we left all of the animals in Africa that were still alive we pretty happy we were on a plane headed home!” In his resignation message, Fischer wrote: “I recently made some poor judgments that resulted in sharing photos of a hunt in which I did not display an appropriate level of sportsmanship and respect for the animals I harvested.”
