Illinois State Police Trooper Struck and Killed by Car

An Illinois police trooper on his way home was fatally struck late Saturday while responding to a car crash, according to a report. Authorities identified the Illinois State Police Trooper as Chris Lambert, 34. A vehicle struck and killed him when he was at the accident scene on I-294, in Chicago suburb of Northbrook. Lambert had a wife and one-year-old daughter, ABC 7 Eyewitness News reported. Lambert was reportedly on his way home when he stopped at scene. News of Lambert's death comes amid reports that Birmingham police sergeant was fatally shot early Sunday.
