Reuters reported that a unit at the Indian Point nuclear plant in Buchanan, N.Y., was shut down after a transformer failure on Saturday. The company that runs the facility said there was no danger to the public. There were reportedly several 911 calls about a loud noise at the plant, located about 40 miles north of New York City, according to the New York State police. Local television affiliate, WABC, said at one point, smoke could be seen rising from the plant. Entergy, the company that runs the plant, however, on Twitter said, "No threat to public safety at any time."
