An Indiana teen modeled his four-day killing spree on The Purge movies, according to court documents filed in the case. Johnathan Cruz, a 19-year-old, reportedly texted others that he would need to leave town after he started his “purge.” By the time he was done, three people were dead in four days. (In the movie, all crimes, including murder, are legal for 12 hours.) Cruz has been charged with three counts of murder, in addition to robbery, intimidation, and other charges. Prosecutors called Cruz’s choice of victims “100 percent random.”
