Memories Pizza—the first business in Indiana to declare it would not serve LGBT customers in the wake of the state’s new Religious Freedom Restoration Act—has been forced to close temporarily. According to the owner, Kevin O’Connor, he received a storm of social media backlash and threatening phone calls for stating he would not cater a gay wedding. In addition to a slew of very harsh yelp reviews, the company’s website was also hacked and transformed to include a rainbow colored background and a tagline that states, “Call us to cater your gay wedding!”
One supporter set up a GoFundMe page for the family-owned restaurant. It has raised over $18,000 in only two hours.
