IndyCar Driver Dies of Head Injury

Justin Wilson, the British IndyCar driver who went into a coma after he was struck in the head by a piece of debris at Pocono Raceway, has died. He was 37. Wilson’s family confirmed his death in a statement Monday, just a day after he was hit in the head by a piece of flying debris that had broken off another car as it crashed. Wilson’s car veered into an interior wall and he was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. “Justin was a loving father and devoted husband, as well as a highly competitive racing driver who was respected by his peers,” the statement said.
