As Louisville’s train charged forward Saturday night, Kevin Ware was quietly whispering inspiration from the bench: “I think [we] can, I think [we] can.” Following his horrific injury on March 30, Ware remained upbeat and positive as his team took on Wichita State in the NCAA Final Four Saturday night. Hobbling out to the court on his crutches, he demanded his teammates not give up. “He told us we had to pick it up and, obviously, we listened,” said teammate Wayne Blackshear. The words of encouragement worked, as Louisville pulled out a 72–68 victory, leading them into the finals Monday night.
