Inmates: Knox is Innocent

Amanda Knox's defense team called on an interesting group of people to testify on her behalf in Perugia, Italy Saturday: Mario Alessi, the convicted murderer of an 18 month old boy, and a Mafioso. Both alleged that Knox was innocent in the murder of Meredith Kercher, which they had learned from another man who has also been convicted but tried separately in the case, Rudy Guede. Guede told Alessi that neither Knox nor her boyfriend were involved in Kercher's murder, and that he himself was to blame. However, Guede has denied this to his lawyers, so prosecutors are wary of the validity of the defense testimonies. They will hear from another convict who is expected to say that his brother and Guede killed Kercher.
