An intelligence organization was involved in the deadly nightclub shooting in Istanbul on New Year’s Eve, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said Monday. “It appears the Reina attack is not just a terrorist organization's act, but there was also an intelligence organization involved. It was an extremely planned and organized act,” he said in an interview with local media. He offered no further details on which country’s intelligence he believes was behind the attack. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, which claimed 39 lives. As with other recent terrorist attacks in Turkey, the group said it was meant as revenge for Turkey’s military actions in Syria.
