After banning the Russian team, the International Olympic Committee announced on Friday that it had provisionally cleared nearly 400 individual Russian athletes to compete in the upcoming 2018 Winter Games in South Korea. Officials allowed individual athletes to compete if they could prove that they weren't using performance-enhancing drugs, while saying those approved athletes would undergo "further pre-Games tests and reanalysis from stored samples.” Additionally, they declared 111 Russian athletes to be ineligible for competition.
