Iowa Judge Shoots Down Gay Marriage Ban

Wedding bells will be extra loud on Friday, after a judge in Idaho ruled the state's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional and paved the way for marriages to begin as early as this week. U.S. Magistrate Judge Candy Dale wrote in her decision that the gay marriage law relegates same-sex couples "to a stigmatized, second-class status...because of who they are and whom they love." The decision becomes effective at 9 a.m. on Friday, but Gov. Butch Otter has already filed for an immediate stay that the state's attorney says he is consulting on.
