Don’t drop out of high school. Audrey Crabtree, 99, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, said her biggest regret was never receiving her high school diploma—up until now, that is. Crabtree graduated from Waterloo High School Monday, 81 years after she was originally scheduled to. “And I feel so much smarter,” she joked. Crabtree was one credit short of graduating after a swimming and diving accident had forced her to miss several days—but to return to school in 1932 meant that she would have had to delay plans to marry her first husband. Her family today includes five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, although she had long voiced regret over not graduating.
