iPhone Keeps Record of Everywhere You Go

Security researchers say Apple’s iOS 4 operating system for the iPhone and 3G iPad keeps a record of everywhere you’ve been, along with a timestamp. The data is unencrypted and unencoded, making it easy to access: “Anybody with access to this file knows where you've been over the last year” they write. The researchers say Google Android-operated devices do not similarly store users’ locations. Blogger Alex Levinson says, however, not to worry too much yet: Apple isn’t actually collecting the data; it’s just stored in the device.
