Iran Accuses United States of Breaching Nuclear Deal
Iranian leaders accused the United States of violating the 2015 nuclear deal by imposing new sanctions against the country. Under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Iran stymied its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of most economic sanctions. Last month, however, the U.S. Senate voted to impose new sanctions against Iran, as well as Russia and North Korea. The U.S. Treasury also imposed sanctions against six Iranian firms for their role in the development of the country’s ballistic-missile program.
