The deadline for a final Iran nuclear agreement is expected to be extended to July 1, 2015, according to Western diplomats. The talks will aim to secure a political agreement by March. The first round of negotiations ended Monday without securing a nuclear deal from Iran. Hours before talks were set to expire, a senior U.S. official said Secretary of State John Kerry proposed to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif that the two sides start discussing post-deadline talks in their latest meeting since Kerry arrived in Vienna three days ago to add his diplomatic weight to the talks. A source told Reuters that the details for a second round haven’t been set yet, but the negotiations may take place in Vienna or Oman. “Some progress has been made,” said a diplomat involved with the negotiations. “But we need to discuss some issues with our capitals. We will meet again before the new year. This is an ongoing process.”
