At least seven people are dead after an Iraqi warplane accidentally released a bomb due to a “technical problem.” The incident happened near the Rasheed air base during the Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft’s return from a bombing run, and the blast injured at least 11 others. “One of the bombs became stuck because of a technical problem, and during [the aircraft’s] return to base it fell on three houses in Baghdad Jadida,” a spokesman said. The plane was an aging model purchased from Russia; the U.S. has not yet sold Iraq more modern F-16 warplanes.
