Partisan approach on stimulus might need retooling.
With the Obama’s approval rating hovering at 76 percent, CNN commentator Robert Zimmerman is wondering about the president’s game plan—and the partisan strategy of congressional Republicans. “The unanimous opposition from Republican House and Senate members [to the stimulus] demonstrates their disconnect from the mainstream and from a third of their already very limited base,” he writes. But what of Republicans’ claim they weren’t brought in as partners or included in the stimulus process? “I get a kick out of a good spin as much as anyone, but I need Dramamine to go with this one,” Zimmerman writes. If Republicans want to broaden their base and appeal, he adds, they need to rethink using Rush Limbaugh as their spokesman.
