Tropical storm Isaac may have veered away from Tampa, but organizers at the Republican Party convention aren't breathing easier yet. Even though its host city is likely to be spared the worst of the weather, the GOP is monitoring the storm as it bears down on Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana, aware that their festivities could play badly alongside news coverage of catastrophic storm damage. The party canceled most of its events scheduled for Monday and released a revised agenda Sunday night, not ruling out the possibility of the convention running an extra day. The GOP also cancelled the first day of the convention in 2008 because of warnings of a Gulf Coast hurricane.
