The father of one of three young British “jihadi brides” is under investigation after authorities uncovered footage of him marching amid jihadist flags at a 2012 rally led by extremist preacher Anjem Choudary. In the video, Abase Hussen is seen enthusiastically marching with protesters and is even captured in the same frame as a burning American flag. The Ethiopia-born Hussen’s daughter, 15-year-old Amira Abase, left for Syria last month. Her father subsequently accused police of placing a “heavy burden” on his daughter through their investigation, and the police apologized. “The impression given was that Islamic extremism was an alien world to his daughter—this footage suggests it wasn’t,” said Hannah Stuart, an anti-terrorism expert with the Henry Jackson Society.
