ISIS Leaving 60K to Starve in Fallujah

Residents trapped without food, medicine.

While Islamic State fighters battle with Iraqi security forces, civilians may be starving in the militant-held city of Fallujah. Between 30,000 and 60,000 people are trapped and struggling to survive among the fighting, The Washington Post reported. Supplies of food and medicine have not been able to reach the city because of the siege, and ISIS fighters reportedly won’t let people leave. “We are frustrated, desperate, and afraid,” said a 32-year-old Fallujah resident. “There is hunger, lack of food, and lack of medicine.” Officials from the United Nations have said they are “deeply worried” about the situation.
