Hundreds of hard-line extremists in the world’s largest Muslim-majority country have begun to openly pledge allegiance to ISIS—and thousands more have done so on social media. The trend has led Indonesia’s government to crack down, banning the group and now blocking websites that display the group’s content. Indonesia is also worried about “alumni” jihadi, or those who come back from conflicts. “We have to be prepared, when the issue of ISIS in the Middle East is over and then they come back into Indonesia,” a top counterterrorism official said Wednesday.
