Bolstered by increasing hostility towards Israel's Arab minority among Jewish citizens over the recent Gaza war, right-wing party Yisrael Beitenu is surging in the polls ahead of Tuesday's elections. While politics in Israel is traditionally dominated by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and broader conflicts with neighboring Arab countries, the party, led by Russian immigrant Avigdor Lieberman, is focused on Israel's Arab residents, who Lieberman believes should have to take loyalty oaths in order to retain citizenship. Mainstream parties like Likud, Labor, and Kadima, are highly suspicious of Lieberman, but if polls indicating a strong showing are accurate, his party could be positioned to enter into a coalition government with Tuesday's winner.
