The Israeli military says its forces fatally shot a Palestinian man who stabbed an Israeli soldier in the West Bank on Saturday, a day after a spate of similar street attacks on Israeli forces. The soldier who was stabbed was taken to a hospital for treatment. The attack occurred during “a routine security check” in the city of Hebron, when an “assailant armed with a knife stabbed an (Israeli) soldier,” an Israeli military spokesman said. On Friday, Israeli forces killed three other attackers in similar incidents. The spike in street attacks comes after months of calm in the area. Since October, at least 215 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, 144 of whom were described by the Israeli military as assailants, according to Reuters. At least 33 Israelis have been killed in similar street attacks.
