Israeli police say a Jordanian citizen was fatally shot Saturday after stabbing a policeman in Jerusalem’s Old City. “The terrorist rushed toward him, whipped out a knife that he had in his possession, stormed him and began stabbing him. The police officer responded with determination and in a professional manner, managed to activate his weapon and neutralized him,” police spokeswoman Luba Simri told Reuters. The Jordanian was identified only as a 57-year-old man who had arrived in Israel a few days before the attack. Street attacks in the Old City are increasingly common, with 244 Palestinians killed by Israeli police in similar attacks since late 2015, according to Reuters.
