Tim Blum and Jeff Poe unveiled a larger version of their Blum & Poe gallery on Saturday, celebrating with curators, writers, artists, and even actors Jack Black. The comedian was among the glitterati who came out to see the new 21,000-square-foot space on La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles, which displayed some of the finest featured contributions to the gallery, including works from Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami, Keith Tyson, and Sam Durant. The super-sized Blum & Poe, designed by Escher GuneWardena Architecture, is four times the size of the 5,000-square-foot gallery the pair opened six years ago on a far more scare strip of the same street with the same design firm. Since that time, a proliferation of modern art galleries have opened up in the area—the duo’s contribution cannot go unnoticed.
