A United Nations employee and Dutch national was confirmed among the critically injured in the deadly attacks in downtown Jakarta on Thursday. Johan Kieft, the head of the Green Economy Unit, was inside the Starbucks cafe at the time of the explosions. Satya Tripathi, who is the head of Kieft's team, confirmed he was “badly injured” and undergoing surgery. Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders says the attack shows that “terrorism can hit everybody. Whether you are shopping in the heart of Paris, in a New York office, or on vacation in Jakarta.” Starbucks had earlier released a statement saying that one customer sustained injuries in the explosions and was treated on the scene. All employees are confirmed to be safe and all Starbucks stores in the city would remain closed, according to the statement.
