Former FBI Director James Comey was a witness in the Mueller investigation, the bureau has confirmed. A court filing over a freedom of information from USA Today revealed that Comey and the records of his meetings with Donald Trump were of interest to the probe. “The FBI and the Special Counsel's office have determined that disclosure of the Comey Memos ... could reasonably be expected to adversely affect the pending Russia investigation,” the filings state, according to Axios. “The Comey Memos are his contemporaneous notes about incidents that are of interest in that investigation.” The memos were written by fired FBI chief James Comey to keep a record of his conversations with Trump and some were leaked last year. But the filings suggest they also contain information which hasn't yet been released, explaining: “The memos include highly sensitive information from the pending investigation. None of this information was the subject of former Director Comey's testimony.”
