James Franco of 127 Hours Remakes Three’s Company

From gay activist to pot smoker to soap-opera bad boy, James Franco’s acting career has run the genre gamut. But his latest endeavor tackles uncharted territory—the actor, director, and artist is working on a multimedia project titled Three’s Company: The Drama. The Sundance Institute released its list of artists and works for the 2011 New Frontier program on Monday, and Franco’s Three’s Company project is among them. The 127 Hours star is taking the 1970s hit sitcom and exposing its dramatic side and impact on the world. According to the Sundance Institute’s website, “James Franco hopes to pull television from the box and view it from ‘a slightly oblique perspective.’”
