U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen will step down from the bank’s board when she is replaced as chair, she announced Monday. Jerome Powell is slated to replace Yellen as chair in February, but she could have continued serving on the board until 2024. Instead, Yellen announced, she will step down from the board entirely, as many previous Fed chairs have done.
