More than 1 million people have been evacuated in Japan in preparation for Typhoon Roke, the second typhoon to hit the country this month. Two people have died and three are missing due to heavy rains from the approaching storm. Earlier this month, Typhoon Talas caused mudslides and floods that killed 67 people and left 26 missing. Roke is expected to take three days to pass over the country. It may impede repairs to the Fukushima nuclear-power plant, which was crippled during the tsunami. Tokyo Electric has been working to remove contaminated water from flooded basements at the plant, but as much as 500 tons of water has been leaking into buildings every day through cracks in walls and trenches.
