Japan's Hottest Day of the Year Kills 11

DEADLY SCORCHER

Heat wave sends 1,900 to hospitals.

Eleven people died on Saturday, and 1,900 were hospitalized as the temperatures in many Japanese cities hit historic highs. The country is in the middle of a heat wave that has left thousands suffering from heat stroke or heat exhaustion. The highest temperature was 38.8 Celsius (about 102 Fahrenheit) in the central city Higashiomi. To add insult to injury, the Japan Meteorological Agency posted a tornado alert for the Tokyo region and is warning the country could be hit with severe flooding. Thank you, Mother Nature.
